Stats issue

  At around 4 p.m. PT this afternoon, my stats showed that I had around 320 views, including quite a few (I don’t remember how many, for a post I posted at around 1:30 in this afternoon. At around 5:30 p.m. PT, I refreshed the stats screen and my # of views was down to under 240 and it showed NO views of my second post of the day.

  What happened to all of those views that suddenly disappeared and why is it not showing any views of my second post. I’ve gotten 17 likes and 19 comments on that post, but no views?

  Hi there,

  I just reviewed your stats and it looks like both of the items which you were concerned about have been cleared up. Your daily stats surged to be the highest out of several weeks and all of the views for that post are all present.

  As I’m sure you’re aware, stats are only gathered and computed on an irregular basis (certain stats are computed hourly, others less-often). If for any reason your stats are not included or have to be recomputed from a previous period, then this may happen. They get included in the following run of stats, but they do not disappear forever.

  Thanks for your answer, but perhaps you can help explain this to me. I seriously can’t wrap my head around why this kind of discrepancy would — or could — exist.

  Hi there,

  Sorry for the delay in response. I was out for a long weekend and so didn’t see your post.

  I’ll be honest and tell you that I have never seen anyone go to such lengths for a side by side comparison, so I was unaware of this quirk.

  I have put this in front of some of our developers who work with our stats to see what they know about it. As soon as I have any additional information for you I will let you know!
