Stats Mystery: “shots.snap.com” link on “visitors clicked links on your blog”
-
On my Stats page, this link shows up under “visitors clicked these links on your blog” (04 Jan 2010):
This link goes to a page on my blog. But I do not have “snap shots” activated (I don’t even find it under “extras” on my appearance dashboard) and I never made such a link on my blog.
Ghosts in the machine? or what?
This is for http://candyprofessor.com (alias for) http://candyprofessor.wordpress.com
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Snap.com is a screenshot company.
WordPress users will see the wordpress screenshots, while logged out users will see the snap screenshots of links.

I had this on my stats just yesterday and was wondering. So why is this screenshot company taking screen shots of my blog? What’s the purpose?
-
So that when other wordpress.com users find a link to your site on another wordpress blog they can hover over the link to get a wordpress screenshot/snap shot of your blog.
You can turn it off in your settings.

OH! How I didn’t understand what you meant is beyond me and I thought I had that setting off. Thanks Dreams I’ll go check it.

candyprofessor et al you’ll find this setting in Extras under Enable mShots site previews on this blog.
Nothing to worry about, as it’s totally harmless – it’s just a WP enhancement. Personally, I find it annoying, but I don’t doubt that many people like it.
