stats not correct

I have looked at my stats in the last half hour and they are incorrect. At one point it said that I had 10 views but only 2 visitors. However, it also showed that I had views from 4 different countries. So, either the number of visitors is wrong or the country views are incorrect. I’ve seen this happen quite a few times.

I’m having similar problems – right now the number of visitors is 24 but the number of referrers is 41. This discrepancy has been happening for the last few days.

I recently switched from a self-hosted site to wordpress.com and have the same problem. My old stat reader consistently had between 20-30 views per day now they are less that five, sometimes I’ll only have one visitor, but they somehow manage to live in several different countries. Not sure if there’s a way to correct this.

My stats are Way Way off on Statcounter I have over 90 visitors but on WordPress it’s at 16!

Tell me about it. I have 91 referrers, 189 page views and only 40 visitors. The visitor number hasn’t changed in about 12 hours.

What stats site do you use, 84wzen? I received a response from WordPress telling me that they don’t count any logged in users as a visitor so your own visits to your site don’t inflate your stats. Their stats are also not in real-time so their is a lag in reporting. Additionally they said this:etpack also does not report visits in real-time; there is a bit of a lag between when visits occur, and when they are reported in your stats. Additionally, there are certain search engine robots and spiders that Jetpack doesn’t count, and referrers that are considered spam referrers by Akismet (our spam-catcher) will not be reported in your stats.

I’m using the WordPress stats. I know there is generally a lag, but no visitors and well over 100 views in 12 hours? That’s not lag, that’s a problem.

My number of visitors has been stuck at 15 since midday today, but the number of views is steadily increasing. That is not a lag either.

I agree with all of you. That was just the reply I got from WordPress to my help request to them. There really is no help, I guess, just like the photos I have taken being posted on my blog being rotated on iOS mobile devices.

I’ve been seeing problems for a few days now although yesterday and today are the worst – stats are currently saying 300 views but only 1 visitor from 12 different countries!!! Thats clearly not right!
Same happened yesterday although visitor count started to rise after lunchtime but it left the overall visitor count for yesterday around 30% down on usual. I’ve not changed anything on the site that could be doing this but visitors as far as I know but the stats been doing strange things for around a week. Please advise!!

I still have the same problem and reported the issue to another thread days ago.
But now the thread is closed but the problem isn’t fixed!

The problem that caused this has been fixed, but as I said above, some of the numbers for the last week will be incorrect. There is nothing we can do about that, as that data has been lost.Also please keep in mind that our stats are not real-time, so you won’t see the visitor stats update the moment someone views your stats.

thanks, I already know that. I am talking about stats of the 18th for example (the day you said you fixed the problem): the day changed and the number of visitors was wrong and stayed that way.

That day I saw 7 different flags in my stats but 6 visitors were counted, you could see that because 7 views came from wp’s reader… anyway it’s a minor thing and I hope it stays like that :)
