Stats Not Making Sense

    Hi,

Can somebody explain how I have only one visitor to my blog I published (Today ) but it shows 2 views on that blog.? I thought IP address only registers for one time on a visit in one day.? Or am I mistaken.?
Also, going back through my stats, I had over 30 views on one piece but weeks later it dropped to 20 something. Can you tell me how a blog can be unseen.?
I know stat fiddling goes on across many social platforms at the behest of somebody. However, it does not make it fair or right. Neither does it help to be explained away by bugs or bots. So, please address these long-standing issues.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Anybody.?

  • Hi there,

Views and visitors are counted differently:

A view is counted when a visitor loads or reloads a page. A visitor is counted when we see a user or browser for the first time in a given period (day, week, month).

For more information on the differences and how they are each counted, please visit our support page:

    Thanks!

So, If I click on an article 50 times in one day from the same IP address, it will register as 50 views.?

I want a simple answer. That support link does not answer my question.

    Thanks.

Yes, if you click on an article 50 times from the same IP address, it will show as 50 views, but one visit.

What is the point of that.?

  • If one person is clicking back to your article 50 times in a day, that’s still 50 different views. The real question would be, why are they clicking back to the same article 50 times?

One possible explanation for two visits from one viewer: if the visitor has a browser that shows thumbnails of favorite sites on the homepage, and your site is among the favorites, you’d get two visits from the same IP: one when the browser loads and one when the person clicks to visit the site.

Another explanation: someone clicked on your site, then clicked on a different page in the site. That also counts as two views.
