Stats not reporting correctly

  Hey there…

  Having a problem since last night with my stats page…keeps showing no views, etc. though I’ve gained likes and followers so I know the hits are there!

  Help, please?

  Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat.

  I choose to reduce my RSS Feed to “summary” here > Settings > Reading
  For each article in a feed, show
  Full text
  Summary
  Doing that compels followers to click in and read the full post on my blogs.

  WordPress.com stats are not real time stats. that means they take time to update. Also as I posted above one does not need to click into your blog and create a page view stat to click a like button.

  Why don’t post/page views add up to total views?
  Post/page views are included in total views, but there are many views to your site that are not a post or page URL. The front pages, category/tag/date/author archives, and searches are all examples of other views that only count towards total views.

  Clicked the summary setting, but no go, blog still shows full posts on home page…do some themes not support the summary format?

  You are confused. The setting here > Settings > Readings is only for the RSS feed. If you want to display only the beginnings of posts on the front page of the blog then you have to split the text by inserting “the more tag” into each post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

  My question is how someone would get the first access to my page to become a follower when they have not visited the site. I understand that my followers can read the email notification they get and click “like” from there to account for likes that don’t correlate to views, but I can’t figure out how someone new can find me and become a follower without viewing the page first. Can anyone clarify this for me?
