Stats not tracking properly

  • Unknown's avatar

Stats are not working. I get e-mails for people viewing my content who like various posts, but according to my stats I have almost no traffic.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Likes are not necessarily indicating page view stats. Understand that likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. See here for what I do to compel readers to read posts on my site > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats

I know they don’t indicate stats, but when likes and follows don’t even show up as views when 90% of my traffic is from Facebook, it’s a problem.

Do you understand that if you provide full posts in your RSS Feed and also activate these here > Settings > Reading > Enhanced Feeds then no one has to click into the blog to read the post or click “sharing” buttons?

    Enhanced Feeds
Add to each article in your feed:
    Categories
    Tags
    Comment count
    Sharing

Changes may not appear until you create a new post or your news reader refreshes.

P.S. Also note that our stats are not real time stats. They are cached data that take time to update.

I have said this earlier, no reply. I am also strongly suspecting that WordPress.com stats are broken somewhere for last several weeks.

I understand they take time, but, no…there is something odd. There is no full post from FB. It’s interesting for people to have read something from an external hyperlink on one day and discussed it outside of WP, but the view never showed up kind of thing. It’s just odd.

I too report a stranhe behavior of stats at my blog at cruzamundos.wordpress.com

I have a little group of steady followers who always come in for a read in the days I publish something, making it around 80 visits for each of those days. Today, early in the morning, GMT, I published an article, spread the word as usually in Facebook and boards and at 16:30 GMT I have 10 visits. This is just not possible.

if I Click My Gravtar Symbol on top right, then My Blogs and ‘### Posts’ –
the likes #’s are all Zero. They used to be correct. Now to the very left is a long list of things to select. If I go to Posts and then click ‘all posts’ – view #’s are there. I was told to upgrade my browser to Firefox 17 or higher. I did this and there was no change. Now you can go on saying this isn’t a problem, and I have found a work-around but # of views has disappeared off the page as described above. At some point, I guess someone with the necessary IT experience will discover that ‘oh yes, we made a change and caused that page to zero out all view counts for some people before we corrected the error. Either we’re all nuts or you have a software bug that was either fixed or still sits like a dangling chad in the winds of never-never land. As a professional, i find it sort of annoying to be told things that I know will not fix the problem. However, i also know that job is no walk in the park and these things do happen. I’ll live with it because you folks do a very good job with this site.

The most recent version of Firefox is not 17 it is now 19. You can upgrade here http://browsehappy.com
