Stats on android phone

Stats on my PC say I’ve gotten 179 visitors to my home page today but stats for the website on my phone say 0. Yesterday the PC says 188 and the phone says 22. Why is there such a huge discrepancy here?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Is this using the mobile browser on your phone, or the Android app?

If the app, it’s possible a connection cache issue is preventing the app from fetching the updated data from our servers. Restarting your phone should fix that.

If a browser, also check if clearing the browser cache helps.

Okay, will do, but I restarted it for an update this week and saw no real difference in the stats. I’m using a Chrome browser on the phone, same as on the PC so I expected comparable results. I have a Statcounter app on the site, too, and the results there are more in line with the PC stats. It’s the phone that’s so far off.

  • Let us know if you see any difference after trying those steps.

There is still a good-sized discrepancy. After clearing the cache, the phone says 7 views on the home page and the PC says 20. Statcounter says 17 unique visits, closer to the PC stats.

Okay, nevermind. I think I’ve gotten it down to the traffic patterns. The phone is figuring it one way and the PC stats another.

  • Ah, thanks for updating us @lelaebuis. Can you confirm you’re talking about the stats at WordPress.com > My Site > Stats?

It works that way on my PC and my laptop, but on the phone there’s a little icon at the bottom of the screen that says “stats.” That’s what I’m checking on the phone. Apparently what I get doesn’t include visitors that somehow access the sidebar with the archive in it separately from the page? These are combined on the PC and laptop views, but apparently not on the phone app.

  • @lelaebuis, this is the page I’m referring to:
    https://wordpress.com/stats/day/lelaebuis.wordpress.com

You mentioned you’re visiting in a Chrome browser rather than a phone app, but it sounds like we’re not looking at the same thing.

Right. That’s what I see on the PC and the laptop. When I hit the stat icon on the phone, what I get looks similar to that, but the results are different. It appears the phone is breaking out the pages differently. When I hit the stats icon on the phone about a hour ago, it said I’d had 7 visitors today. Looks like I have to hit the back arrow to get to the page you’ve linked.

Looking down through the rest of the data, I think it’s just a part of the home page it’s reading? Clearly it’s not stats for the whole site.

  • When I hit the stat icon on the phone

Of what stat icon are you speaking? Looking at my site in Chrome on Android I don’t see any stat icon, just the regular Stats in the menu:

When I tap on Stats in the menu it opens the stats page with the Day tab highlighted, and shows the exact same info to me if I click on My Site ->Stats on my laptop.

Looks like I have to hit the back arrow to get to the page you’ve linked.

What page exactly were you looking at that you had to hit the back arrow to get to the page @supernovia linked to?

Are you perhaps reaching the stats page by going to your posts list, and then selecting the stats option on a specific post there? That will be different. The stats page you reach that way shows you the views for a single post only, while the stats page at My Site ->Stats ->Day shows the total daily views for all posts and pages across your site.

You also mention a statcounter app. Can you please give more information exactly what that is? We don’t offer integration with any third-party stat counters, and I see nothing like that added as a widget on your site.

I have an S9 phone so maybe that’s the difference. I’m seeing icons at the bottom of the screen. Statcounter is definitly installed on my site and working fine. Please don’t worry about it. Nevermind my question. I’ve figured out what’s going on.
