Stats Plugin Stopped Working: API Problem
-
I had associated a lot of blogs to my account with the API key (this I was writing from), about 150 blogs while now I can read of about only 10 blogs or less associated to my account.
What is happening? How can I contact support team at wp.com? I’m not finding a reliable contact form, thank you.
-
Same here in Brazil. Years getting stats and then nothing.
Hope “they” fix it soon, as it looks like we can do nothing.
-
What? I’m the next victim of this issue. I’m lucky the problem is not on my end and that I have other analytics tools in place.
What’s wrong with WordPress? Are the guys over there unable to put up with many blogs using their stats?
-
Had the same problem whole day today and just seconds before I wanted to complain here it’s suddenly working again. Yippie!
I happened to log out of both my blogs (one selfhosted, other one on wordpress.com), I’m not sure that did the trick or if it was just coincidence.
-
I was having the exact same problems as you guys and it seems we now need to use a new plugin called JetPack which is made by AUTOMATTIC – http://jetpack.me/
My stats are working again now.
-
I had a problem with stats on my selfhosted wordpress blog after upgrading to 3.1. The blog is http://www.masterofmedicine . But now the problem which I face is that, when I try to log into my wordpress.com account, i get a message that Already Installed
You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.
I don’t know what to do as we don’t need to install wordpress for using wordpress.com. My wordpress.com blog is http://www.puzzlehacker.wordpress.com . Now I can’t even contact the wordpress, com support.
Please do help me get around this problem
-
WHOAH, that might be it… I just installed Jetpack and it added my self hosted site back to my wordpress.com account, i still get this error
We were unable to get your stats just now. Please try again.
but it is definitely attached to my wordpress account now where it wasn’t before (besides the JetPack plugin is really sweet).
Maybe all i have to do at this point is wait for JetPack to play catchup with my blog, we’ll see. Thanks @ flintyv666
-
Yep, that was it, my stats are back now (with a REALLY sweet interface)….
I wish wordpress would have told us this is all we needed to do, but for all those on this thread I would go download that plugin and give it a shot
-
Same problem here, I have been having it for the past 14 hours.
If you google the problem, lots of sites come up with the “fix” of installing Jetpack.
This is not a fix – I don’t want Jetpack, with 8 plugins all in one, and potentially future premium options that I have to pay to access…
I just want my good ole wp-stats to work!
Please someone from Support, tell us what is wrong, and how long is it still going to take for it to be fixed. -
Another problem, Jetpack will not load onto older versions of WordPress.
I also just want my old stats back . . . .
Come on Support . . .
-
not to beat a dead horse but JetPack may not be the solution everyone wants, but it does work (at least it worked for my blog), if you are tired of waiting just install it while they figure out a fix?
@robertager i have no doubt it won’t work on older wp installs, but there are a ton of things (and problems) i have found with working on old wp installs, why not just upgrade?
i actually found that when i installed JetPack i was able to deactivate and uninstall at least 3 different plugins, so it may not be for everyone but it works great for some, just wish i knew about the “fix” from WP themselves?
-
For what I can understand the problem is not with the plugin but with the accounts/API keys. I’ve lost 98% of my blogs listed here which used API keys.
-
Hmmm … does this help?

I had the same problem with http://www.cutegeek.com the stats just stopped working. I thought someone might of compromised the site so I spent the entire night checking for security problems :(
I just re-enabled the stats plugin and it’s working.
I wonder what happened.
-
Just to let you know, my stats came back and for the moment I have access.
Islandzephyr – thanks for the advice. Been thinking of upgrading for a while as I have had various problems with new plugins and stuff. But have been on the road for a while and did not want to risk the blog going down or losing any of the changes I have made to the theme.
Is upgrading that easy? Any tips!!

Stats are all down for all of my sites… gasp.
“Your WordPress.com account, darkmatter661 is not authorized to view the stats of this blog. Currently access to stats is broken for some users and we are working on fixing this. Your stats are still being counted and will be visible once we restore access for your account.”

I am beginning to think that WP com changed their policies and didn’t tell anyone about it. Allow me to doubt if they’re “working on a fixing this” as they say.
It doesn’t take days to fix an issue like this. Just restore everything prior to the changes made. That’s all it takes. Then see what the issue was and why it caused so much heart ache.
I get the feeling we’re not going to see wordpress stats again as we knew it.If they did change their policies “Boy what a great mistake this is !!!! “
I have half a dozen sites which use their wordpress.com stats and none of them are working. -
@yakos
Have you tried these or not? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wrong-api-key-cant-correct?replies=5#post-574254 -
I installed the Jetpack plugin and that solved it as far as seen all stats in individual WP installs and in WP.com. The ones I haven’t added the plugin too are still having a problem and do not appear in WP.com Site Stats.
