Stats Plugin Stopped Working: API Problem
-
-
Strange, never attempted installing jetpack, and as of last night suddenly my stats are working again. Is it possible they’ve fixed the problem?
-
Same issue with my blogs http://blog.electricpixel.ca
clients are freaking out, hope they fix this soon.

Same problem for me :-(
I can’t see my blog in my wordpress.com account, no stats on my blog, bad news :-(
-
I found these instructions below and this worked perfectly for me and my self-hosted blog.
When the problem started 2 days back with the stats, I did not delete WP stats, but deactivated them.
Also when I tried to install JetPack and activate the JetPack stats I got a fatal error.
Following these steps EXACTLY brought back my stats and all the historical data.If you have been getting this error lately on your WordPress.org blog then don’t worry because you are not alone. This error has been a result of a new plugin introduced but the Makers of the WordPress.com Stats called Jetpack. It is very simple to solve this problem, just Follow the Step below
1. Got to Plugins> (Click) Add New
2. Search for the plugin called “Jetpack”
3. Install and activate this Plugin
4. Now either you can got to the plugins menu and under Jetpack click on settings or under the Dashboard DropDown Click on Jetpack
5. Connect your WordPress.com Account and Authorize it
6. Now Don’t Click on the activate Button in the Jetpack Settings as it will give the the Following error “Module could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error. Perhaps there is a conflict with another plugin you have installed?” instead go back to your plugins menu and press Activate under “wordpress.com Stats” (as it Jetpack Automatically Deactivates this plugin)
7. Go back to your dashboard and your stats will there as normal. -
how about this error message when successfully installing jetpack, connecting to wordpress, then clicking under jetpack ‘site stats’
i get this:
invalid_signature: The timestamp is too old.
-
instantcast,
I followed your instructions and got this message, “invalid_signature: The timestamp is too old.”
Any ideas?

This seems to work without activating the wordpress.com stats.
I have not disabled or enabled the wordpress.com stats.
I am wondering if I should do something either way, since everything is working? -

@hereiblog “Weird. I deactivated jetpack and activated wp stats and the stats are back…for now.”
This makes me think that the main problem is the authentication process. It´s because the API is no longer necessary in Jetpack plugin.

has anyone uninstalled Jetpack after deactivating it?
if so do wp-stats still work after you uninstalled Jetpack? -
The same problem here too in a brazilian site, I Think it’s a global problem,
ERROR MESSAGE SAYS: You are not a member of this site.
If you have just installed the WordPress.com Stats plugin, this error probably appeared because the API key entered in the plugin belongs to a different WordPress.com user account.
The owner of the API key must visit this site’s stats page to grant access.

I to am having this issue on a self hosted site and have uninstalled and installed again and re-entered my api code. When I did that wordpress told me that there was stats available would I like to recover, I did and now it is not working again.
-
@damangmedia – just to make sure I understood: you uninstalled wp-stats, you reinstalled wp-stats, and it works and you did’t lose any of your stats data?
-
@damangmedia
Have you installed Jetpack or not?

@viverecapetown Sorry about that no it is not working. When I installed it recognized the url and asked if I wanted to recover the stats. When I did that I got the API error again.
