Stats, Readers, & Twitter
-
Not a problem, per se, but just a discrepancy I have noted over the past few weeks. Lately the blog seems to be struggling to count clicks from twitter links to the blog. I am tracking the number of people clicking on the link via feedly’s karma function. For instance, at 11 am central, karma claims that 10 people clicked on a twitter post linking to today’s post on my blog. However, according to WordPress’ stats, there have been 8 total views (6 from before I posted) and 0 directly to today’s specific post. I don’t know how accurate karma is, but I assume if it is tracking 10 hits then there is at least some semblance of action that wordpress stats are not accounting for…
Likewise, and this might be something that is a bit more difficult for any stat counter to follow, is the disparity with respect to google reader. According to google reader, 16 people subscribe to my blog, yet I tend to only get between 1-4 hits referred from google reader. Even assuming a number of the subscribers do not regularly check my blog, this seems a bit low. Is it perhaps not recording people who only read the blog inside of google reader and do not open the blogsite itself?
Any information regarding the above would be well received….

Yes, I’ve noticed much the same thing. There’s a “discount” on our stats for some reason, particularly on Twitter referrals.
