stats, real stats.

I want to make a request. why can’t stats include all visitors instead of just some that visit in just the right way? I feel like most people want to know the total number of people that are visiting there sites regardless of how they got there. I have over 50 followers yet most days I see not views recorded. Sometimes I will get a comment or a like and still no views recorded. My understanding is that you are only counting certain people. Why? Please change this, or make it possible for us to use google analytics so we can see all of our visitors.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Our stats are page view stats. Please do not assume that everyone who clicks a like button or a share or reblog button actually reads the post on your blog because odds are they may not.

Also note that those who follow your blog in the Reader or by email don’t have to click into the blog unless they wish to. And, they can even comment without clicking into the blog either.

Likes and shares and comments and reblogs and follows are not page views. In fact, likes, shares, comments and reblogs are completely misleading when you are talking about page view stats.

Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com/Gravatar account who is logged into WordPress.com can “follow” your blog, “like”, “share” and “reblog” your posts in several locations such as the Reader, without ever clicking into your blog and creating a single page view stat.

Logged in visitors using a mobile can read the full post without creating a page view stat. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-reader-show-full-text?replies=31#post-1373606

You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here Dashboard > Settings > Reading. Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feed rather than to “full text”. That will compel followers who are not using mobiles to click into the blog to read the full post which will create a page view stat.

Also note that our stats are not real time stats. For details see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ and note the views and viewers take hours to update. Provided you are logged in when visiting, your own views are not recorded on any public blog you registered.

Basically what I get out of this is that there is no way to know who has looked at your page, and no way to know how they feel about it. How am I supposed to know how I am doing?? It is very frustrating.

When anyone your site that is a recorded page view stat.

There is no means of personally identifying your visitors. Many of us blog under pseudonyms and many ISPs put hundreds of us in the same IP blocks, so the IP address is only traceable back to less than 30% of all internet user’s computers.

How anyone responds to your content is found in your comments.
If they do not comment then one cannot read their minds and know what they think.

oops! I missed typing a word above.

If you wish to then you can use free third party visitor tracking programs. See here Free visitor Tracking Tools http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2014/05/28/free-visitor-tracking-tools/

That didn’t even sound like English. Basically what I am getting is you do count every visit to my site. Therefor, (my thoughts not yours) my site really sucks. Honestly though what I am getting is that I don’t understand the stats section even a little bit.

I’m sorry but the only language I speak fluently is English. As you cannot understand me I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Yes. Not every one reading your site is VISITING your site. Your Followers, for instance, are generally not. If they do visit the site, they are counted. But most people following a blog just view it in the reader and no, they are not counted.

    Hi all,

Just to clarify, if you have your reading settings set to display the full text of your posts in your blog’s feed, your visitors can click on the post title in the WordPress.com Reader to read the full post. Any time someone views the full text of the post in the Reader like that, it will count as a view for that post. (However, it won’t be counted as a view if they just read the excerpt without clicking to view the full post, or if you have your reading settings set to display only an excerpt in your blog’s feed.)

Some of your readers may subscribe via email, in which case they might choose to read the full post in their email without visiting your blog. (Setting up your blog’s feed so it only displays an excerpt of each post is one way to encourage email subscribers to click through to view your site — they’ll only get that excerpt in their email.) Email subscribers can also comment via email, in which case they don’t have to visit your blog directly to leave comments.

If you’re interested in increasing engagement on your posts, you might want to take a look at some of the blog posts on The Daily Post about Traffic & Growth: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/category/traffic-growth/

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns about that. :)
