Stats slowing down?

As of a few days ago I seem to be having an issue wherein the total views/visitors displayed for the current day in the stats view either stops updating for a while or resets the numbers to a lower total than it was previously displaying. Eventually, it fixes itself–usually at the end of the day. As far as I can tell, this happens on the desktop–the WordPress app on my android phone shows me a different count. Right now, for example, the phone app is showing 28 more visitors and 50 more views (sometimes the gap is higher).
This also seems to have coincided with a general reduction in my views/visitors counts but I guess that might be because fewer people are reading my blog (sob).
