Stats spike after June 19

  Did something change after mid-June in the way stats are measured by Jetpack? Average daily hits on my site suddenly leap from around 15 before June 19, to over 45 from June 19 onwards. I’ve not published anything new since June 5. I haven’t publicized any content on social media around June 19. Still, the spike is there, and it shows no signs of letting off. Could this be caused by a change in Jetpack Stats itself?

  Jetpack and WordPress.com has not made any changes to the way we calculate stats.

  Thanks, @thesacredpath. I’m not seeing a spike in referrers, and today the stats look like it was a ten-day phenomenon that’s now reverted to normal. Strange but incidental.

  This sounds like a natural traffic fluctuation — they can happen from time to time and don’t necessarily mean there is a problem. Although you haven’t shared any posts on social media, visitors may have found your site through other means like search engine results.
