Stats to rank users by posts?

Apart from the Users page(s) in which Authors are listed alphabetically with their lifetime post totals, is there a stat function or plugin which would allow me to quickly and easily sort them by their numbers of posts? At present my only option would seem to be to manually transfer the User page data to a spreadsheet, update it daily from the User page, and then sort it in the spreadsheet as needed. This seems laborious. There is of course the stat function that ranks Authors by most viewed posts, but that’s not what I’m looking for; I want Authors by number of posts published.

I can’t think of anyway to get this other than filtering by author name in the list of posts and then putting it into a spreadsheet.
What you might want to do is contact staff directly and see if they can add a filter to the authors widget where you can select to have it show the number of posts for that author in the widget. It would be similar to what they do for archives and categories widgets where you can have it show a post count. I don’t think it would be that difficult, it is just a database query really.

I want Authors by number of posts published.
If each author name is a Category and each author assigns their Category (name) to their posts then the posts numbers by author would be available to you.

Each Author’s name is assigned a Category, but human nature being what it is each Author does not always categorize his posts with his Author’s name consistently.
I had hoped I could sort the Users page by heading, but I can’t.
