Stats/Insights page

Ask that the ‘Insights’ option should not be the default option on opening the Stats Page. I would prefer it to be deleted from the stats page.

I open mt Stats page nearly every day. I want to see the latest traffic on my site. I was very satisfied with the default display of the option “Days”. Without my agreement, wordpress now defaults the Stats page to the option “Insights”. I am angry about this. The “Insights” option gives me no “insight” at all. I know that stuff already and it does not interest me.
I assume that your Admin changes are intended to please a typical client. I am not one of those.
Even the “Days” option is cluttered with spurious traffic (mainly “from” Brazil) that I believe is generated by or for Search Engine Optimisation spammers. However, from time to time the “Days” display shows activity that suggests real interest in the technical material that I post.
I am very happy with the “Days” display, but I would be grateful if you were to remove the “Insights” display altogether. -
Once again, someone “from” USA has viewed my post about January 2015 local weather. That post was not remarkable. I think all the numerous hits on it are fake.
I suspect that less than half the hits shown by my website statistics are genuine. -
@surlybond, I can’t change the default page for all WP.com users, and at this time we don’t have a way for individuals to specify a default page. I’d be happy to file that as a suggestion though.
In the meantime, try clicking to the stat you want to see. In my experience, as long as you’re logged in, when you go back to the stats page you’ll see that. Alternatively, if you enjoy visiting a particular stats page, you could go there and bookmark it.
As for visits: they seem to be coming from search engines and weather forums rather than obviously spammy sites, which is what you would see if this were SEO spam. They’re probably just curious about climate change or the weather in your area. I know if I’m travelling (or even if I’m just fantasizing about warm weather on a cold day like this) I’ll google around a bit to see what the weather is like elsewhere, and I’ll often find myself on sites like yours.

Yes, please file a suggestion that a user should be able to select a default option other than “Insights” when opening the Stats page.
My simplest option, on opening the Stats page from its little icon above my blog, is to then click “Days”. It is simply a daily annoyance.
It strikes me that many of the features of wordpress blogs are intended for very new inexperienced users.
Those of us who are settled in our procedures face many inappropriate routines imposed or pushed by wordpress. (Move to a new Theme? Why on earth would one ever want to do that? Do you really think I should try a new Theme every day?)I remain nervous that the “WP Admin” menu, that has the excellent and essential editing features that were standard two years ago, will be deleted without warning.
