Stay signed out – enter password every log in
-
I don’t want Word Press to remember my password! I need my blog to stay completely private because sometimes my roommate uses my computer. How do I change the settings so I need to enter a password every time I log in?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. When you log in, make sure you don’t check the box that says “Stay signed in”. Additionally, don’t just close your browser when you’re done but make sure you log out. To log out, hover your mouse over your gravatar in the top-right corner. The sign-out link will be in the drop-down menu right below your picture.
You should also be able to set your browser to automatically delete cookies every time you close it, as an extra precaution. And make sure your browser isn’t set to remember your passwords, otherwise none of this will help. You’ll need to look at your browser’s help files for instructions how to do this.

To be clear, it’s your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer) that remembers your password, NOT WordPress.com. You need to change your browser settings to change this.

Thank you for replying!
I thought it was the browser too, so I deleted the cookies for my blog and for WordPress. But whenever I reopen a window and go to my blog the password is saved (even though the box to save the password is unchecked!) and I can get right in. I looked up Chrome’s instructions on how to delete cookies and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I feel stupid but I can’t find a solution and I really need privacy.

Cookies and saved passwords are not the same thing. Clearing cookies should log you out, but it won’t remove your saved passwords. On the screen where you clear your browsing data you must specifically tell it if you want it to remove saved passwords as well.
In Chrome, if you go to settings, scroll to the bottom and click Advanced Settings. After the privacy settings you’ll see Passwords and Forms. Make sure, first, that the option to save passwords is not selected. Second, click on Manage Passwords. There you can delete any passwords that are currently saved. Here’s the Chrome support doc on managing saved passwords: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95606?p=settings_password&rd=1

Also, under Privacy Settings, click Content Settings. Set the very first option to “Keep local data only until you quit your browser”. That will automatically clear cookies (not passwords) if you close Chrome.
