Stay theme; widgets on the front page not showing

  I have tried to add widgets to the home page of the blog but they don’t show up. It says in the description it allows for 3 widget spots on homepage template, and they seem to be taken up with search and archive widgets that were already there which I can’t seem to access.
  I would like to put a profile picture on the right of the blog. I’ve added categories into the header but it looks rubbish, I want it to be on the side bar above the archives, please help!

  I suspect the solution is the same as the one I recently provided in the topic Customize problem, despite the theme being different in this case.

  To test whether I am correct, add a widget to the sidebar and see if the default widgets still display.

  Correction:
  It wasn’t quite as easy as I suspected. There are eight widget widget areas in the Stay theme. The widget area hiding those three default widgets is the “Blog Primary Sidebar” area. Add a widget to that section and those three disappear. A widget or widgets can be added at Customize > Widgets, or at Appearance > Widgets.
