re: the learning curve
We do have resources. On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/ The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page. The search box there provides results form the support docs and from forum threads too.

@luvwhatyoudo: Please don’t ask the same question in more than one place.

I just created my portfolio website in word press. I customized my blog as best as I could, but there was a feature called “sticky posts” where it said the images would rotate on the front page.
I have the template called “Selecta”. Does anybody know how to do this? I tried the suggestions from above, but the images do not rotate. It just put the last image I indicated as “stick this post to front page”.
This is the last think I can’t figure out. :( Thanks. :)

Selecta theme introduction
Selecta theme live demo siteIf you head to Appearance > Theme Options in your Dashboard you’ll see an option for “Show sticky posts in a featured slider on the front page”. If you enable that the slider should appear on your homepage. After you enable the slider, it will appear at the top of your front page once you mark at least two posts as sticky. If you have just one sticky post, that post will stand on its own at the top of the page.

In addition to what Timethief said, the images don’t automatically rotate – I got the impression that you think that is what will happen. If you select 4 posts as TT said, those 4 will be listed in a list on your front page with the picture from the top one displaying. Your readings then can click on one of the other 4 and that is when they will change. It is not automatic. I am using Selecta and played with that feature on my test blog but not using it on my real blog.

Thanks Timethief!
And I just noticed I wrote “readings” and should have typed “readers.”

I make so many mistakes every day that I can read mistakes in other comments and correct them as I read. :)

@llwebb – usually you just uncheck a box in the post editor where it has ‘visibility’ options.
-
@llwebb – sorry I clicked ‘submit’ before I’d finished! – If you also want to get rid of the post, just delete it or make it draft (or private).
-
Yes. You can change that designation. Look at the illustration here please. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts Edit the post and remove the “sticky” designation and then click “update”.
