Sticky post in Garland round-about solution
-
Hi everyone, I would like to share a solution that I’ve found about a problem I encountered using the Garland theme.
Whenever I tried to change my top post, with my title and logo in it, into a sticky post, so that it will appear all the times on top, a blue band appeared on top of the sticky post, ruining all my clour scheme.
With Garland i cannot put a customized banner, but only change the colours.
At first I cut and paste my top post every time I was publishing a new post, and then put it back again.
Well, now I do differently. I make the top post into a sticky post (the blue band appears), then I go back to my dashboard, publish my new post, that will naturally appear under the sticky post.
To get rid of the blue band I simply need to go back to editing it, change the date of the sticky post publication to now, publish the top post again, and then edit it again, not as a sticky post. The ex sticky post remains on top and the blue band disappears.
It may sound complicated, but actually it takes only few simple clicks. Like this I avoid cutting and pasting through which I often lose my formatting.
Good luck with Garland. Apart from this glitch, I am very happy with the webpage look of this versatile theme.

What are you talking about? All you have to do to bring your intro post back to top is go to Posts>Edit, click “Quick Edit” (shows when you hover under post title), change date and time, click Update Post.
PS The Ideas section of the forum is for suggestions to WP staff.

oops, Thank you very much. And I didn’t know about the WP part; thought was just a users’ forum. I started blogging, without any previous training, in october 2009. I’m certainly no Pro, just eager to learn and make my blog work.
In another forum they were talking about a similar problem with Garland, about the sticky post with the blue band on top, but didn’t explain how to quickly re-date the top post, if I remember. Or i missed.
There are a lot of things to know. I am just a little too enthusiastic sometimes.
Sorry for the bother. Ciao, Paola
