Sticky Post to home page AND page layout question
-
Ok So I have a question…
I’d like on my home page for it to show somewhere /showcase that I have posted a recent article in my blog. I believe a sticky post can accomplish this? Does my theme support adding a sticky note to the front page and if so how does it look and how can I do this?
Secondly—If you see I have three widget areas that are think fit, eat fit, train fit..
right now think fit is connected to the blog… my eat fit section has a grid layout.. and my train fit section i am trying to figure out how to layout that as well, because that section is going to have endless articles eventually. A grid layout is an option for that as well, but I was wondering if it is possible to have a rolling blog page setup in the train fit section AND a blog page set up in the think fit…
or is only one blog page allowed? Am I making any sense lol??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
Due to the nature of your theme, Sela, and the way you’ve set up your homepage, there isn’t a way to add a sticky post. But, I have another solution you might like. You could add a Recent Post widget below one of your existing (3) text widgets. It would display right below one of your text widgets…so you might want to think about how you’d use the space beneath the other two text widgets!
To do this, click here:
https://dreamfitbefit.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdreamfitbefit.wordpress.com%2FAdd a Recent Posts widget in the first front page widget area. Then, set the number of posts to show. Save and publish that change, if you’re happy with it!
A grid layout is an option for that as well, but I was wondering if it is possible to have a rolling blog page setup in the train fit section AND a blog page set up in the think fit…
If you want different posts to appear under those three headings, you’ll have to set up Eat Fit, Think Fit, and Train Fit as different categories (rather than as pages, as they are currently setup). Then, you’ll assign your posts to one of those categories. When a visitor clicks on a link, they’ll be taken to the page that displays all the posts for that particular category. Does that sound like what you’re hoping to achieve?
If so, take a look at this:
http://catswithmustaches.org/category-pages/Once you create those categories, you can add them to your menu (replacing the page headers that currently display there, but don’t show posts). Here is info about creating a custom menu:
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Awesome, yes I think this makes sense..
I added the recent post widget to my page…
I think I am only going to make Think fit and Train fit a category, because I want to leave the Eat fit a grid page. I think it would look nice in that setup to have recipes.
You see in my text widgets how I have the “read more” for think fit and train fit? Can I link those to the category page then where the posts will be?
I’m going to try your recommendations above about changing it the categories.

Hey there!
The Recent Post widget is working great. Nice job!
If you want to show only partial posts in your category pages, you can change your settings here:
https://dreamfitbefit.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.phpWhere you see “For each article in a feed, show,” you’ll change the setting to Summary.
Then save your changes. That’ll do it!
Thanks again and let us know if you need anything else!

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me out with one more thing? in the post under Think Fit… How do I get that image to span across the whole image content area? I know i have to do some custom CSS, which I have done a couple before. But I don’t know how to word it to accomplish this for that page!
if you can help that would be great!

Hey there!
I actually don’t see any images in the post under Think Fit:
http://dreamfitbefit.com/category/think-fit/I’m wondering if you mean the post under Train Fit? If so, it’s not a CSS fix that will help with this image. What you’ll need to do is use a Featured Image that has the specifications recommended in the Sela info page. Featured Images for posts should be at least 820 wide by 312.
Give that a try…and the image will appear correctly in the header area for the post!
Let me know how that works! Cheers :)
