trying to stick posts to category pages? can’t find a way to do this, only to stick posts to the home page. Alternatively, is there a way to make a category page descriptive? i.e. if I wanted to direct readers to a category of articles through the menu, could I then create text that would automatically be displayed at the top of that page, with categorised articles underneath?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

trying to stick posts to category pages? can’t find a way to do this, only to stick posts to the home page.

You can assign categories to posts. When you edit a post, you’ll see on the left site a section for assigning Categories & Posts. Then you can add those categories to your menu.
To find more information about Categories, check this link:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/
For more information about adding categories to your menu:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

could I then create text that would automatically be displayed at the top of that page, with categorised articles underneath?

Ok, as far as I understand, you want to have an introductory text in one page and have your categorized posts underneath this.
You could use the posts shortcode. https://en.support.wordpress.com/display-posts-shortcode/
You’ll find that you can include this shortcode with specific categories.
If you have any questions, just let me know.

Oh that’s great thank you! So would I just put it into the html under my introductory text? Sorry if I’m being dense, I haven’t done this in a while, still trying to find my way around.

Yes, that is correct, you place the shortcode in the position where you want the list of posts to be displayed.
