sticky posts do not stick to the front page

  hi i have 2 private posts which i have stickied, but they refuse to stick to the first page. they disappeared into the usual pagination and i am unable to move them back. help please!

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi @quirkyhill, your posts will not appear on the first page since they have been marked as Private

  Private – The post will be visible only to blog Editors and Administrators. Private posts are not visible in the Reader, feeds, or in any search. A post can be private without being password protected.

  hi, noted with thanks, but i can’t find anything in that link that specifically confirms that private posts can’t be stickied.

  is there a workaround?

  Hi @quirkyhill , i doubt since the objective of sticky posts, as it seems, is to keep selected posts on top for public view. To ensure that they dont miss it.

  I have a workaround that i just tried.. you may try it as well! This may not help you put Private posts stuck on top, will certainly help you locate them faster though.

  Create a category “Private” .. add all your private posts to this category.

  Since this category contains only private posts it will not show up in category listing (found it to work in my test case). However when you are logged in you may retrieve your posts by using either of these methods:

  1. From the login (backend) get into Posts and filter out category -“Private”
  2. Once you are logged in.. browse to https://yoursitename.wordpress.com/category/private

  You will see your private posts listed, latest on top. will this help you?

  In addition to what @nagpai mentioned, if you work through the WP Admin Dashboard and go to the Posts screen at https://quirkyhill.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php , right under the word Posts you’ll see that posts are filtered for you as

  All | Mine | Published | Sticky | Scheduled | Drafts | Pending | Trash

  What will appear there depends on the current status of your existing posts and clicking on any one of those filters brings up the related posts.
