still can;t start my blog with my new domain

    This is very confusing. I ma trying to start my first blog with a domain I just registered with WordPress and every time I type it in it says ‘this domain is already registered with a WordPress member.’ Yes ! Me! So where do I go? Im going around in cricles

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi,

    Did you get this sorted out? I’m seeing your custom domain pointing to http://faithinfilmguy.wordpress.com/ correctly. However, if that ISN’T correct and you really wanted a different domain to be connected to http://faithinfilmguy.wordpress.com/ , please let us know and we can dig into it a bit more.

    No I did not. I don’t know how it is still associated with the faithinfilmguy site That was one I did 5-6 years ago. I want it connected to lifewriting101.blog the domain I just purchased.

    So what happened here is that instead of creating a new site, you registered a new domain on the existing site at faithinfilmguy.wordpress.com. That’s why the domain redirects you to faithinfilmguy.wordpress.com. And because the domain is already registered, you can’t register it again.

    No worries, though! Here’s what you can do next:

    1. Go to https://wordpress.com/start and create a new site.
    2. When entering a domain, enter something like lifewriting101blog.wordpress.com. This is just an example; you can enter anything. The idea is to choose a .wordpress.com address instead of entering the domain that’s already registered.
    3. You’ll also want to choose a WordPress.com plan, which is needed to set a custom domain as the primary address.
    4. Once the new site has been created, follow the steps at the link below to move the domain from faithinfilmguy.wordpress.com to your new site.
