Still not resolved: Related posts issue
-
I wrote in earlier about the related posts showing up on my blog sometimes and I followed the advice I was given. Going into the appearance section and unclicking a box.
I noticed, however, that today when I clicked from my emailbox to approve a comment, the related posts were displayed again right below my post but before the comments.
I then went to the dashboard area and clicked “view post”, or whatever that tiny button at the top says, and looked at my page and the related posts weren’t there.
Why would it show up when I click in from my mail to approve a comment, and not when I’m viewing from the dashboard, and how do I stop it completely? Also, I don’t know if my subscribers are having to look at these related posts from other blogs.
Here’s what I saw, I copied it:
Possibly related posts: (automatically generated)
This is what I do instead of cutting
2009 word o’ the year
didactic personalitiesI don’t want other people’s posts on my blog, especially when I might not want to be associated with their content.
Thank you so much for any help or insight you can give! Last time everyone was so quick to reply, I really appreciated it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s not a part of your actual post, so it won’t show up in your Edit or Dashboard pages.
Go to your Dashboard->Extras and see if the box is ticked or unticked. We’ve had lots of reports of, for instance, visual editors becoming disabled when the blogger didn’t change the settings.

Thanks, for the quick reply, raincoaster.
I went into the dashboard and clicked appearances then extras, then checked the box saying “Hide related links on this blog…”
Which is what I thought I remembered doing before…
I guess we’ll see if it takes this time. I’ll write back in if it doesn’t resolve it.
Also, can you explain this part of your letter, what is a visual editor, and does this mean that sometimes our settings might change without us clicking them?
“We’ve had lots of reports of, for instance, visual editors becoming disabled when the blogger didn’t change the settings.”
Thanks, again! I really appreciate you taking the time to help me!

See support documentation for an illustration of the visual editor so you can check to make sure that the Visual Editor is not disabled in your user profile. http://en.support.wordpress.com/missing-visual-editor/

Hi timethief,
Thanks for the link.
When I followed it, it was able to connect me to my user profile and personal options page, but my page didn’t have the visual editor listing above the admin color options like the example had.
I couldn’t find it anywhere on the page.

The reason you cannot see this option is because you are on the < Global Dashboard rather than on your blog’s dashboard.
Do not use the links in the Support documentation entry. Instead simply click the name of your blog found in the drop-down menu from the top navigation bar. Then in the column on the left hand side of your blog’s Admin area click “Users” and “Your Profile” on your blog’s dashboard. Now you will see:
Personal Options
Visual Editor __ Disable the visual editor when writingMake sure the entry gas not been checkmarked. Then click “Update profile”.

Thank you for your very detailed explanation, timethief. I followed your instructions and was able to find the visual editor box. It was unchecked already.
Hopefully, those related posts won’t come back.
Thank you!!
