Still not showing up when googled

  • Unknown's avatar

I have added an additional post along with 4 new pages and menus. I linked to the facebook page of the same name and also, re-entered to email address to reactivate just in case. (this came up saying the small hoof does not exist as well) Google still can not find thesmallhoofsociety.wordpress.com. Out of ideas, please help!
    Thanks so much!

    Hello there,
It takes time for search engines to index your content. Also note that pages and posts are not the same at all. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ Pages have very little Google juice and posts have tonnes of Google juice so publish posts frequently to gain search engines attention. As I said in the other thread, even if you have several posts and lots of content, it normally takes some days up to several weeks to get indexed. If there isn’t much there, why would search engines need to index you? They wait until you have a substantial amount of material.

When I started a new history site in January it took several weeks for search engine indexing to get started – when the site was new it took Google 2 or 3 days for Google to pick up a new post and a few more days to index the new content – now Google reads new Posts quickly – but there is still a noticeable delay in the indexing – and that site has 21 Posts – all of them longer than your one line title Post things.

As noted above you need to give search engines something to grab onto.

The latest post on my blog was published 17 hours ago according to my admin panel. Google has indexed it and also says 17 hours ago. I don’t know if it crawled it immediately or just posted dated its index based on the date field shown in the HTTP headers. But it definitely got it within 17 hours. That’s not terribly long to wait. I’ll check closer next time I post.
