Still problems with default Quicksand font @Firefox?
-
I followed some threads regarding the font issue with Quicksand on Firefox (same problem on Linux, btw, v.25) at wordpress.org support forums, but could not find a fix without touching the css. I am using wordpress.com anyways, so editing css is a no-go for now (upgrading only to remove a font-bug seems a bit odd right now ;))
The problem is related to the default font Quicksand not being rendered properly in Firefox, so the menu is not readable. Simple fix would be to use the second specified font Helvetica.
So my question is: is there a fix for online usage of the Spun theme? Would it be possible to add Quicksand or Helvetica as a theme option or remove Quicksand? It is not very well rendered in Chrome and IE either…
Btw, I do not mind that the greyscale to color hover action did not work, as I circumvented this by enabling colored circles by default, which is okay. But this lovely theme is really not usable at all, if the menu is not readable on Firefox machines…

Hi there,
I took a look at the Spun demo site and your site, in the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox.
Here’s how your site looks to me in Chrome: https://cloudup.com/cUdurRu6Lp1
And here’s how it looks to me in Firefox: https://cloudup.com/c0n1sesrG67
In both cases, the font loaded fine for me and I can read your menu without any problems. If it’s different for you, can you make a screenshot of what you see when you visit your site? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy. Thanks!

Hi,
Here is the screen: http://wp.me/a44tlj-1D
As you can see, it is readable in Chrome (upper part), but has not the best contrast ratio even for good eyes but it is alright I guess.
But at the bottom you see the firefox screenshot (looks even worse on my linux machine…), and the letters are really hard to read.
Yours,

Hi Monika,
I see what you mean. I was able to reproduce the issue in Windows with Firefox 25, as well. It looks like this is specifically a font issue for Firefox in certain operating systems, and I’ve reported it to our team so they can take a look. Thanks for letting us know!

Hi Monika,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention! I’ve added a workaround for Firefox that displays Helvetica instead of Quicksand. I hope this helps!
Cheers,
Caroline
