Still redirecting to wordpress.com after changing namesavers
-
I’ve been trying to figure this out for myself over the past two days but nothing is working.
Basically, I registered a blog on wordpress.com and attached my domain http://girlswithpearls.co.uk to it but then I quickly realised that what I really wanted was to be with wordpress.org.
So I deleted my blog which I think was my first mistake as I’ve read that if I deleted my blog before changing my nameservers I’ve messed up and need staff help. Is this true?
So then I changed the name savers back to what they were on godaddy where I purchased the domain. After about a day I received a confirmation email from godaddy regarding the change so I know it was successful.
But I still keep redirecting back to wordpress.com. I’ve deleted my cache and cookies but that didn’t help.
Please can you advise me? Thank you.

http://girlswithpearls.co.uk/ works fine for me – to a coming soon page
It can take 24 to 72 hours after the LAST name server change for things to settle down – also depends on when you ISP flushes their routers

Ah ok thank you, I shall wait longer then. As long as my deleting the blog shouldn’t cause any problems, it was that I was unsure of. Thank you.

Deleting the blog made no difference to what your issue is – no effect at all – once you point the name servers away from WordPress.COM you disconnect your domain name completely from WordPress.COM
