Still unable to get info on moving blog to my outside host
-
Hello. I have set up a blog (http://nonfictionbooksrated.wordpress.com) using one of the templates offered by wordpress.com. It is ready to go. I also have set up my hosting with an outside hosting company. I have the URLs, etc. They are ready to go. My question is how to upload the site to the host. More specifically, where to find it at wordpress (I know the destination folder at the host). I am familar with FTP. My question is where, on the wordpress end, do I go to get the files to transfer to the host. I initially posted this question here, was sent to wordpress.org and by them back here again. This is a wordpress.com blog. Thanks very much for your help…

WordPress.com blogs are hosted here at wordpress.com. You cannot host them on an outside hosting company. If you want a self-hosted blog, then you need to download the software from wordpress.org. Read the sticky thread at the top of the forum for an explanation of the two systems.

Sites remaining at WP.com are supported here. Sites moved off to independent hosting are supported at WordPress.ORG.

Is there a way to take my content and move it to wordpress.org from wordpress.com. I want to start ads and I cannot from wordpress.com.
Thanks!

Yes. There is a FAQ on this. Basically, you get a host, install the wordpress.ORG software, export your blog from here and import it over there.

And if you run into glitches the support for the independent blogs is over at WordPress.ORG.
