Stolen domain name
-
My domain name was recently stolen. My registrar just informed me that transferred my domain name (20 years) without my authorization.. Both my registrar and the receiving registrar are trying to correct the violation.I hosted a blog using my domain name, which is my business name.. As a result, my blog has been taken down and replaced with an ad indicating that the domain is for sale. I am an attorney, so I believe that I vs e blocked any sale or further transferable they correct this. My concern is whether I have lost over a decade of content I posted on the blog. Can anyone answer that question? Does anyone know I can get directly in touch with WordPress to discuss this unusual matter? Thanks.

Hi there!
To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.
We, WordPress.com, are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
So, if your site was hosted on WordPress.com – you could still access it using the free subdomain.
Since there has never been any custom domains on your WordPress.com account though, it sounds like your site was hosted elsewhere, and you will want to reach out directly to your host to regain access to your site.I hope that helps :)
