Stolen Website

My WordPress site (rebuilttranny.wordpress.com) is hosted on someone else’s website through WordPress (rebuilttrannyrecords.com). I used to own that domain but stopped posting in 2013. It looks like someone bought that domain and is somehow hosting a mirror version of my site and pretending to be me, it has my contact information on their site. Can you please let me know how I can get their site take down?

    Thanks,
    Corbin

  • Hi there,

That domain is no longer registered through us, so you need to get in touch with the current registrar or hosting provider. You can find that information through the WHOIS records.

It looks like the content is still hosted through WordPress, is that not the case?

  • You can see your site here: rebuilttranny.wordpress.com

Yes, I know that’s still up. Maybe the title of this thread was confusing.

rebuilttrannyrecords.com is stealing content from my WordPress site rebuilttranny.wordpress.com. They’ve stolen 173 posts from 2009 to 2011. They’re also using the look and feel of the old version of rebuilttranny.wordpress.com, including the content at the top of the site that has my personal information.

I used to own rebuilttrannyrecords.com but let it lapse. The issue is not with the domain, but using my copyrighted material and pretending to be me.

It looks like they are still using the WordPress platform to post new content, is that correct?

  • Thanks for clarifying.

The domain, rebuilttrannyrecords.com, is currently hosted at Linode.com. They’re using WordPress, but the open source software. made by the community on WordPress.org. That’s not the same thing as WordPress.com where your rebuilttranny.wordpress.com site is hosted. As they’re not hosting their site on our servers, we have no ability to remove that content, as we have no control over that site.

You’ll need to contact Linode.com directly and follow their process to submit a DMCA takedown request. It looks like Linode might already have suspended that site, though.
