Stop certain kinds of adverts
-
i have the free account. they are showing adverts promoting a lifestyle which i fully respect people’s right to follow but would prefer not to be associated with my content. it has no relevancy to my content. (it also is in conflict with the mainstream values of the country where i reside). how can i stop this kind of advert promoting certain kinds of lifestyles? i don’t mind product or service ads.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
We do not have the ability to filter ads via topic. Your best bet may simply be to upgrade your site to remove the ads completely:

Take a look and let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.

Thanks. Of course – that is the obvious answer and quite likely I will do it. Just a question though – I think on the Business and Premium plans one can opt-in to an advertising programme and receive revenue for showing WordPress ads? In this case is it possible to have some control over the types of ads shown?
My point really is my site is (I hope) reasonably ‘serious’ in tone and I feel that adverts of the type ‘[Photos] 25 Celebs and their bedroom secrets’ (well – something like that) actually undermine my site. If this is not possible could it be treated as a feature suggestion – at least for the actual opt-in programme on the Business and Premium plans?
Thanks

Hi there, not staff but here’s my take:

Not really, but the ad quality is supposedly better when you are running WordAds. I can’t speak from experience on this since for years I opted out of running ads.
As far as earnings, Staff have repeatedly mentioned to users here in the forums that it takes thousands of site views to generate real income from ads. And then one asks the question whether the income will be more than what you spent in order to be able to show ads.
That’s my inflated 2¢

Ok. Thanks. Quality is important for me – maybe a subscriber model is an alternative. Thanks for the input.
