Stop Page Titles Showing up in the Header

  • Unknown's avatar

My pages show in Sidebar through the widget, which is exactly what I want. However, their titles are also showing up in the header under the name of my site. This obviously makes no sense as soon the whole top of the site could be cluttered with these titles if more Pages added, looking awful and entirely distracting from the important parts of he site. I have Pages listed under the sidebar heading of “Notations” and that’s all I want. It may be useful to have a couple of the Page titles at the top but how do I stop all of the Page titles from showing up in the header? I am using Cutline.
    Thx much. :)

i think you need a css upgrade to eliminate the page titles from the top. if you do purchase the upgrade, you need to renew it every year, and you should have some knowledge of css because the staff do not give support for it and few people in the forums here know css. otherwise, choose another theme which does not show page tabs and require the page widget.

I dont think there is other ways to fix this other then changing your theme to something else.

I do have custom css, and do not see a way that this could be managed through that. I can see that some other themes don’t have the same set up, but so far I like the way I have revised the css scheme of my site and would like to stick to it. So, the question still remains, how do I …. for Cutline?
    Thx though for answering. :)

There is a way, a complicated way involving sub-pages and so on, but if they are invisible in the header they will also be invisible in the Pages widget.

tried the first css suggestion, doesn’t work. the second works in my case.

I rushed right over and tried that tip, sadly doesn’t work, maybe because I am using a different theme. This Cutline code is fairly complicated and though there might be some way to do something, I can’t figure it out myself. I did find where it talks about using sub-pages and that might be what I will have to do. Not great but could do. Yes it is the static page I am talking about. There is a separate website for Cutline but it doesn’t actually have much information on it and it is addressed for the download and install versions, not this one. The forum isn’t active, no one is really answering questions, mostly people just frustrated at their problems, LOL! I wonder if there is another place where Cutline people hang out, doesn’t seem to be any here. Maybe they’ve just given up, LOL!
    Thanks much for help!

After finding some more information, I tried again using the parent/child settings for my Pages and also ordering them by putting in 1, 2, 3 &tc. numbers for each one according to the order I wanted them to appear. It works well as substitute, since Cutline doesn’t give any choice but to have the Page titles show up under the header. It still keeps the box in the sidebar listing all the pages, you can give that list whatever title you want. As mentioned it is only this sidebar list of Pages I want but there you go. I don’t yet actually have enough Pages to bother about but I am trying to figure out ahead how I could do some things I have in mind for later. Thanks raincoaster for that tip.

You will only find the information in the faq – http://faq.wordpress.com/ by lucky chance. Under the main tag of Posts, there is a list of subjects but none of them give any hint of providing this information. Today I went hunting for something else, and happened to look at the subject called “Next Page” and at the bottom, under “Related Questions”, there it was, “I have too many pages at the top of my blog. At the bottom of that page, again under “Related Questions” there was another one, “I have too many pages in my header” which explains a littler clearer,

I don’t know why neither of these turned up when I originally tried searching either as I tried all kinds of key words!

And here’s one on sorting your pages if you want them listed in a certain order, and about remembering to add in your Page Widget,

Thought I’d post this here in case someone else came looking for the same information.
