Stop post notifications for Followers without deleting them

I need to re-post some old posts, but don’t want to bother my Followers with subsequent notifications. Is there some way to temporarily turn followers, or at least email notifications, etc. for them, without having to delete them?

Hi there – There’s not a setting that allows you to disable notifications to your followers.
What you can do is try setting your Site Privacy settings to “private” temporarily as you re-post content, which should disable notifications to your followers. What’s important to know is that your site would not be available to the Internet during the time it was set to private. And remember to re-enable the “public” setting once you are done. You can always test this with one post to see how you feel about the method.

@deancroyal: Thanks heaps for responding. I read the link and then I logged into my Dashboard to Settings > Reading > Site Visibility and then selected “I would like my site to be private” (instead of “Allow search engines to index my site”). So do I then redo my older content I mentioned as a new post and select “Public” instead of “Private” when posting and the above setting will maintain it as private? Will this still mean people who currently follow me my blog, or follow for an email notification when I post, will still receive a notification? Or does this block them receiving? If so, and I then revert later to “Allow search engines to index my site”, will they suddenly receive a notification of the updates?

If the whole site is set to private, that covers the whole site, overriding post privacy settings.
If you want a specific public post, the only way to do that is to individually make all other posts private.
If the site is private, email notifications stop, and they’ll start up again for new posts after the site is made public.

staff-blorbo: Thanks. Does that include email notifications going out to followers for posts I have made while I’ve set the whole site to private, once I open it to public after?

No, posts published while the site is private will never be sent out, even after the site is made public.
