Stop the Ability of Post Authors to Edit Comments
-
Why can an author of a post edit comments made on that post? I am a teacher who is using WordPress and I have made my students Authors. Right now, if another student comments on a post, the author of that post can go in and EDIT the comment made about his or her post. Obviously, I do not want an author of a post to be able to edit a comment made on the post. How do I disable this?
Something seems wrong. Why would the author of a post be able to edit feedback on the post?
Thanks

Hi,
You need to go to congiguration, after that at Comments.
There you can configurate as you wantwp-admin/options-discussion.php

Thanks for your reply. We had already tried this- but there is no way to disable an author from editing a comment to their own post. There is no mention of this feature at all. I would like to be the only one who can edit comments if they are inapropriate.
Any way this can be fixed?

Have you tried to acttivate this in configuration?
:The comment must be approved manually.

I have 95 students- I can’t approve each comment before it’s posted.
What exactly would I activate in configuration?

That is an incorrect answer. See here https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ and know there is no way to alter their role and capabilities except by changing roles.

Hey there,
Authors can edit comments of the posts they’ve created. I will make sure this is clear on the support document. There isn’t a setting to change this.
If you want your students to have limited access, you can make them Contributors instead:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#contributorIf it is important for you to see the other students’ comments, but you don’t want anyone else to have access to editing them, you might remove the comments altogether, and add a contact form instead. The content of these forms can be sent directly to you.

Let me know if you need additional assistance. Many thanks!
