Your notification preferences can be changed on Notifications Settings here: https://wordpress.com/me/notifications
In regards to the notification of site updates, I have modlook here so that staff can assist.

That doesn’t block updates. I still get spam every day from updates and there’s no option to disable them. To stop wordpress spam I have all email coming from wordpress marked as spam now- anything from you goes into the spam folder where it belongs.

The only sites I see on your @gregrothschild WordPress.com account when I check on our end are listed here:
– gregrothschild.wordpress.com
However, we don’t actually send out update notifications for sites hosted on WordPress.com, so the email you are describing is not familiar to us. Also the site gregrothschild.wordpress.com appears to be unused and has no content that I can see.
Is it possible you are referring to a site you created under a different login that we are not able to see? What is the URL of the site mentioned in your emails? Can you also copy the full text of the email message so we can see what it says?
Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.
