stop words from being hyphenated at the end of sentences with CSS

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi … I am back to blogging after a two year hiatus and am using the theme Twenty-Twelve. I am noticing that there are a few instances where words are hyphenated at the end of sentences. I have tried to justify the text but still the words are hyphenated. Is there any way to turn this off. I do not like the look of hyphenated words…. looks sloppy. Thanks for any and all suggestions. I do have the customize feature but really know very little about CSS .

    Ooofff! Not sure if this will work or not. You will have to try it out. It should work for Firefox, Chrome and Safari, but not sure about Internet Explorer and its various versions and oddities. Add this to the bottom of your custom CSS and preview. If it takes out the hyphens/word breaks, try saving the stylesheet and see if the code disappears. If it does, then the CSS Tidy filter that WordPress.com uses isn’t yet compatible.

    .site-content article {
    -webkit-hyphens:manual;
    -moz-hyphens:manual;
    hyphens:manual;
    }
