Stopping comments in "about" section
-
Hi, new to blogging! Just set one up. Appears to be impossible to “ask community” this, as clicking on the button does nothing…..
I have disabled comments on the blog itself, but can’t see any way to remove comments box from the “about” section. Clicking edit for this gives no option to stop comments there.
I want to receive no comments on the blog, or from the “about” section, or from anywhere else, & not to be contacted by anyone.
I want the bog to be just info only.
Can you help!?? Thanks! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
you can override the default settings and disable future comments on any post or page following the steps described here:
-
Thanks, but I’ve already tried that. I can disable comments on the blog itself…..I’m talking about the “about” section. No mater what I do there is always a “leave a comment” box at the bottom.
-
Then how about remove it with css;
#comments{ display: none; }But you need to upgrade your WordPress with Custom Design.
-
@riabright: Have you tried the following?
– Locate the post/page you want to edit on the Posts or Pages page on your WordPress.com site’s dashboard and click on its title.
– Then, locate the Discussion module on the edit screen, and either check or uncheck the options it offers.
– Make sure to save the post after you change any comment setting.
If so, it should work. If not, there’s possibility that @nizamilputra offers: hide the comments using css.

Thanks everyone! But this blog is way too confusing for me, so I’m going to join another site! Thanks!

How do you delete your whole membership & leave? EVERYTHING is too confusing. Are you supposed to search for a day to find how to delete your account?!!!

All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts. Your visitors click the post tiles or the comment links or comment bubbles on the front page of the blog and they are directed to the full post appearing on it’s own page where the comment boxes appear at the end of the posts.
You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

@johntwelve
If you still want to leave please read what follows. To delete a WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/Alternatively, to change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Here’s how to deactivate your account:
Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html4. To hide your Gravatar profile, login and on the bottom right hand corner of your Gravatar profile page you will find a “hide” button visible only to you that you can click.

Thanks! It still LOOKS like I have one from my end! But appears cancelled to anyone else!
-
Hi @johntwelve,
When you’re logged in, you still see your old deleted site. It should show a banner at the top saying that this site has been cancelled when you view it. I can verify that the site itself is gone however.
