Stopping lazy loading – how come I can´t?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi guys :-)

So, my LCP is high (usually around 4 seconds), and when I open my page, some elements, like the logo, take a long time to appear.

When inspecting the element (logo), it says loading=lazy.

I figured I would disable it to see if this would bring my LCP time down.

However, I have not succeeded. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

    1) Disabled lazy loading in LiteSpeed Cache

    2) Disabled lazy loading in JetPack

    3) As I’ve read that WordPress has an innate lazy loading built in these days, I’ve tried to disable it by adding this code, first to Code Snippets (which did not work), then to my functions.php file (in the top, if that matters):

    add_filter( 'wp_lazy_loading_enabled', '__return_false' );

    4) Checked to see if I have any other plugins that might add lazy loading but found none.

Yet, images are still lazy loading, and I have run out of options to try.

Do any of you have an idea of what could be going on?

    Thanks for reading :-)

    Best regards,

    Martin

  • Hi there,

Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host zebrashop.dk on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/

Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.

You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, and we offer a migration plugin that will help you move your site to our managed hosting in just a few clicks.

The Move to WordPress.com plugin allows you to start migrating a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com directly from the self-hosted site. Unfortunately though, as it stands now, we are not able to help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help. Thanks!

@staff-totoro I got the same issue, and I am a paying client (actually my company is the one who pays, and I am the developer of the sites [you can see in my profile that i manage the following sites- blog.mendelics.com.br, blog.meudna.com. I’ve added them to the profile right now. It seems it takes time to get added]).

You believe that you can verify, in my user logs (login and chats with support), that I’m working daily on blog.mendelics, and with him I need the help.

I’de love receive a solution for this problem. It seems that critical CSS is missing as well Critical IMAGES, since google marking the dynamically added images, via lazy loading and images CDN, as a LCP problem causer.

Will love to hear you input about it, or anyone from jetpack/wp moderators.

    Thanks!
