Storage

How do I know how much storage I’ve used on my blog? If I remove the images from the Media Library (because I’ve already used them in my blog), does that free up all of my storage? In other words, does the store just apply to the image/video files in the Media Library (and not the actual blog)?

Hi there!
Visit the Media Library of your dashboard and you will see a notice on the top of the screen of how much space you’re currently using.
To delete files, you can hover your mouse over a file to receive your options; then, click the Delete Permanently link to remove it. Note: files that are deleted cannot be recovered, so choose wisely. Also, if they’re connected to a post, a broken link will appear in the post.
I do have one suggestion for you – your Video Press upgrade expired today. Have you given any thought to upgrading to a Value Bundle for $99/yr? Here’s more information on this bundle:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/Most notably, it includes the Video Press upgrade and a 10GB space upgrade – which would eliminate the need for you to delete any files. You can also purchase the space upgrade separately.
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions. :)

Thanks for your reply. Ok just to clarify: so if I remove a photo that I used in one of my blog posts, the photo in the blog will no longer be there? Only a broken link – no photo?

Ah ok well then you’re right. It does make sense to upgrade. Thanks so much for your clarifying and your quick response.
