Storage facility(ies)

Hi – I am brand new to WordPress, so, please ignore my question if it sounds lame.
I have been reading carefully about the plans offered by WordPress but I am still not sure which one to go with. I am mainly interested in hosting a website which will, inter alia, offer the visitors to upload the files (videos, images among others).
    • Does WordPress offer such functionality?
    • If it does, where will the files uploaded by the visitors be stored and how will the owner of the website be able to access those? Also, is there any additional cost to be incurred for the same (say, for example, paying to AWS for the storage)?

  • Hi there,

offer the visitors to upload the files (videos, images among others).
    • Does WordPress offer such functionality?

You can do that with the use of a plugin that will allow visitors to upload files. For that, you’ll need to upgrade to the Business or eCommerce plan. Those are the only plans that allow the installation of plugins.

If it does, where will the files uploaded by the visitors be stored and how will the owner of the website be able to access those?

That depends on the plugin you’ll install. File uploading plugins have an interface to manage them.

Also, is there any additional cost to be incurred for the same (say, for example, paying to AWS for the storage)?

The files can be store on our servers, but if you want to integrate a third-party service you can do so by custom coding or by using a plugin.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
