Storage Space
-
I have a question. My blog reached its limit on storage space and I ran out. I just noticed that the Personal Plan for $2.99/mo or $35.88/yr is available that includes 3GB of storage space. Can I use this plan to ‘ADD’ the 3GB of storage space that I currently need to my blog so I can upload pics again? Please let me know!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The 3GB storage for the Personal plan is the same 3GB storage you’ve filled up on your free plan, not an extra 3GB. The only solution is to upgrade to Premium or do some drastic editing of your existing images. They are rather large and should have been optimised for the web before you uploaded them. Certainly do that for future images if your site is going to continue to be photo-heavy.

Thank you so much for this information, and this does explain a lot to me. Can you explain though (for my future use) on how to optimize a photo before I upload them to the web? I have never done this before. (I am assuming that optimizing makes a photo smaller in space/storage size, right?) Thanks again and I look forward to your response!

There are loads of programmes free and otherwise. But even using “paint” in a Windows PC has dramatic effects. Most of your images are in the png format. I took one of your images which was 1.62MB (as are most of them), opened it in “paint”, clicked “save as” changed the name of the image (most of yours seem to be called “untitled”) and saved it as a jpg. The new jpg image is only 159kb (ten times smaller) with no drastic difference in image quality. If you had done that with all your images you would only have used 10% of your 3GB allowance so far.

Thank you for this truly valuable information. I am now sick to my stomach to hear that I used up all of my storage space by large pics and could have avoided it. Going forward I am going to optimize! Thank you a thousand times over for your great advise! Now, I wonder how many people DO NOT know about this. Thanks again!
