Storage space change
-
Hi there.
I’ve been running my blog for about a decade now, and I regularly post daily (I currently am on a 775 day streak). My posts always contain a few pictures – and I normally do keep an eye on my storage. This morning I woke up to see it has gone from 3GB to 500MB. I was not informed of this change, and it appears like my only option is to purchase WordPress Pro, which was something I was planning to do, albeit later on once I have been able to afford it.
Can you please advise me on why this has changed, as well as if anything can be done. This is an unfortunate situation and I really want to resolve it. I’ve been a loyal user of WordPress for many years, so I hope this can be rectified in some way.

Hi there!
Currently, this is a bug. The new limit of 500MB is for new free sites, but legacy free sites should see the previous limit of 3GB, so not to worry, this should be fixed soon.
Regardless, right now the limitations for new sites are not being enforced and no action would be taken against a site for exceeding these limits.
