Storage upgrade for audio not working.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I’ve renewed my storage for audio update last November 2014, for some reason last night I’ve have not been able to upload any audio file, upon checking my account setting under media, it’s showing that my allowable storage space is 13 mb, however on the the second page it’s showing 13GB , I’m a bit confused could you please let us know what is happening? Also receipt of payment for the storage update last November 2014 is showing clearly on my accounts page.

I’ve never had any issue with all my previous audio uploads via podcast app from my ipad.

    Thank you in advance
    Lyndon Rodriguez

    Hi Lyndon!

It looks like you have used 13MB of the 13GB available to you. You can see that at the top of the page here:

    https://mysoundfound.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php

Are you having trouble uploading audio files?

Thanks for the reply speedy reply Jeremey!

Yes I’m still having trouble uploading, I’ve always used mobile podcaster app on my ipad, I’ve never changed any setting nor there had been any recent update to the app, my workflow has always been the same as well.

You’re correct I missed read the specifics, on my dashboard it is showing 13,000 MB allowable and I’ve used 13 mb of this…so still I’m not sure why this is happening? When I try to upload via audio mobile podcaster, a communication pop up error comes up about some XML-RPC setting which I understand should’ve automatically set up from my wordpress.com site.

I’ve not uploaded any audio since being billed for the space upgrade last November 2014 really keen to get posting again.

    Thanks for your help again.

    Howdy Lyndon!

Thanks for clarifying! Could you let me know what URL you have currently in place for the mobile podcaster app? It should ask for something like an XML-RPC endpoint. Can you make sure you’re using the https variation of your site URL like this?

    https://mysoundfound.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php

    Thanks Jeremey,

I’m not sure where to find this XML-RPC end point, the default setting in the mobile podcaster app only ask for four following fields to be filled in:

    1. Name of wordpress page:
    2. Site address:
    3. Username:
    4. Password

I’ve never seen anywhere in the apps where this XML-RPC endpoint needed to be set up, apart from the communication error pop, I remember saying somewhere from the set up page that it only applies to wordpress.org site, and wordpress.com should have this automatically set as long as I’ve purchased a space upgrade for audio upload.

Thank you for the help, I’ve also emailed the app dev, but no response as of yet, they also have an informative support page but no mention of this XML-RPC endpoint.

    Thanks again

    Jeremey,

Hello, looked into where I could enter that alternative URL, there only the site address field on the default setting page, BUT it won’t allow me to enter prefix https://… Only allowing http://, there is no other field on the apps for an alternative URL you speak of :-(

    Thanks,

    Hi!

Thanks for clarifying! The “site address” field is likely what we’re looking for. At WordPress.com, the endpoint is always yoursiteaddress.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php. So, the app probably grabs your site address and adds xmlrpc.php to the end.

I believe the issue here is the HTTP vs. HTTPS. What happens when you enter the HTTPS version into the app? I’m betting that we’ll need to get the HTTPS version in place to make this work.

    Hello,

Thanks for the reply mate! I have the feeling this maybe the case, I’ve used this app for uploading audio to my page without any issue, for most part of last year.

There is only one URL field, and I’ve always inputed HTTP, it won’t allow me to input HTTPS…I don’t know what’s going on, I haven’t heard from app dev either : -(

Is there a way for you guys to replicate what’s happening from your end?

    I really appreciate your help.

    Thank you

Happy to give this a try! Are you using this app?

Awesome! Spot on Jeremey, that’s the app in question.

Please tell me how you go with it.

Thank you…looking forward to your response.

Giving this a try! I’ll get back to you as soon as I know a bit more.

I’m afraid it looks like this is indeed an HTTP vs. HTTPS issue. I ran two different tests using the app.

The first test was using a testing site I have on WordPress.com with a default URL that’s being forced to HTTPS. The app was unable to publish to this site.

The second test was using another site I have on WordPress.com with a custom domain. At this time, we’re unable to provide security certificates for custom domains on WordPress.com so the domain still uses HTTP. The app was able to successfully publish to that site.

There are two possible solutions moving forward:

    1. Continue to ask the app developer to include HTTPS site addresses in the app
    2. Purchase a custom domain at WordPress.com. This will work for the time being because it will force your site back to HTTP.

Thanks for the heads up Jeremey, I thought as much I heard back from the app dev yesterday and an update is on its way, hope sooner than later, he thinks the issue was due to wordpress changing from http to https, this is all over my head…just hope to start posting again.

Thank you for all your help, you’ve been super awesome!
