-
A site I did Not follow just showed up in my Reader. the url:
https://turntableforone.com/2017/03/23/hint-for-this-saturday-nights-musical-theme-3-25-17/The blog does not have a follow/unfollow button.
Additionally in my list of followed blogs, I don’t see any edit function to delete or unfollow. . I want it gone.
Thank you in advance for assistance. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you removed the https://turntableforone.com URL from this page https://wordpress.com/following/edit?

If that does not work then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Also subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. On the Following page the edit function is absent, although I’ve seen and used it in the past… so I’m doing the modlook tag as directed.

Ok this is weird. . on my 2nd laptop the ‘unfollow’ function is present on the Manage Follows page, where it is absent on my main laptop —
I have now ‘unfollowed’ the blog in question. from the 2nd laptop.(If it matters, for info both laptops are Lenovo brand w/Win 7 , latest Chrome browser and identical settings)
I still have no idea how that blog got my Follow, that disturbs me, because to my knowledge I’d never visited the site until today, after seeing it in the Reader.
Although it’s now unfollowed, is there any info as to how it got in my Reader?
Thank you for attention. -
If I did it was entirely without my awareness.. A possible explanation to your finding is:
I sometimes doze of with the PC on my lap-table, and lately have been using a wired mouse because of touchpad left click problems, and likely the mouse got clicked unintentionally as it was vulnerable to my movements asi dozed.
The blog was probably one of those random ‘More from WordPress, related posts’ from random blogs, at the end of viewing something from my Reader.
I think this is most likely now, because I know I did not ever consciously choose to view that blog before today. So that ‘solves’ this situation for me, thank you again for your attention.

The same thing just happened to me: Yesterday I received six emails stating that a blog at https://eslkevin.wordpress.com had new posts. I did not remember following this blog, so I assumed I must have hit a button by mistake, as suggested above, so I unfollowed it. But today all the posts were still in my Followed Sites reader with the little green icon that says “Following” in the corner. I tried to unfollow it again and got a message that said “Not able to Unfollow this blog” so I hit “Block this blog” and that took it out of my reader, saying posts from this block will be hidden. I just noticed that at the bottom of the posts there is an Unsubscribe link so I will also do that. I’m just curious to know what that was all about.
Thanks : ) -
Hi @nanasworldweb, our logs say you subscribed, unsubscribed, resubscribed, and unsubscribed all within the last day. Also is there a chance you could send the exact error you got when you were unable to unfollow? I wasn’t able to find that in our system.

Hi and thanks for taking time to look at my question! I didn’t take a screen shot of it, but I think the message said “You are not able to unfollow this blog”. But, as it occurred to me later, it could be that I couldn’t unfollow it because I was not in fact following it anymore. So then I probably pressed “Follow” thinking I was unfollowing, and that’s how I ended up following it twice in one day. It’s dawned on me that if I am reading through posts on my iPhone, I could have accidentally hit the “Follow” icon with my thumb while scrolling. (I know I have accidentally “liked” and “followed” things on Pinterest in the same way.) Again, thanks for looking into my little problem for me. I will be more cognizant of what I’m doing next time : )

@nanasworldweb Ah yes, that would make sense.
If more folks are having trouble with accidentally following, we’ll send that to our designers so they can be aware.
Do you know whether you initially accidentally followed through the reader, or would you have been viewing the site in a browser?
-
Hi! It would have been through the reader, and I would have been using either my iPhone or Kindle. Hope this helps!
