strange hit increase…

so my blog normally gets like 10-25 hits a day, mainly from my friends. I don’t really publicize it all other than on my facebook page.
But the last three days I’ve been getting over 100 hits. Before these three days I’ve only had 2 other days in the last six months where I’ve had more than 40 hits. The strange part is, it’s been one particular blog post from about 2 weeks ago that has been getting all the hits. i wrote a blog about those damn vuvuzela horns at the world cup lol, and that’s the one that has been getting around 80 or 90 views per day, according to WordPress stats. Why is this happening?!

Searches work in mysterious ways. A friend on blogspot had a similar experience last year with one of his political comments, a phrase hit the search engines for the hot story of the day.

Dear penguins: For one thing, that vuvuzela topic is interesting to a lot of people. I think it is, anyhow, because it describes one nation’s national phenomenon traveling to the U.S. and being copied. Also, it is interesting even without that cultural phenomenon. People are interested in that, and probably not just Americans. I think that a large part of high hits is choosing the right topic, and you did!

It was a viral post and it’s no longer receiving the traffic it originally did this is the way of things. IMO it’s not at all unusual – it’s common.

It happens. Sometimes older entries get more hits. The way I see it, it’s the topic: vuvuzella.
