Strange Log-in Issue – Password ‘incorrect’
-
I have a WordPress site through Hostinger. So far my experience with WordPress has been rough — I wanted to start selling my product eight months ago, but the whole process has been overwhelming (especially having to learn CSS in order to get things to look the exact way I want them to). Anyhow, I decided that I probably need to purchase the ‘USPS Shipping Method’ so that my site can have calculated shipping (the need to keep purchasing plug-ins is another pain with using WordPress since my ‘cheap’ website keeps getting more costly and I only have a single product to sell). So I tried to purchase the plugin, and then I get asked to log in again (even though I was already logged in) and for whatever reason, I get an error message stating that my password is incorrect. My password works pretty much everywhere else in the WordPress system, it seems, so why is it not working during my purchase? So anyhow, I decided to create another account in order to purchase the plugin. But this required a different email address (the one I’m using for this inquiry). The log-in worked, and I made the purchase, but I don’t know if the plugin will work properly being that the email address that I used to purchase it with is different than the email address for my WordPress website (the plugin is installed and activated, but I don’t want to do anything with it until I have some answers). If the glitch with your website could be fixed, I’d rather try to purchase the plugin with the proper email address and be refunded for the purchase made with the new account. I don’t need two WordPress accounts.
I tried finding the ‘USPS Shipping Method’ plugin from my site’s dashboard/panel, but the official plugin wasn’t in the list (I’m not sure why that is), so that’s why I came directly to WordPress in the first place. There was a third party version posing as ‘legit’, but I’m skeptical (the one from ‘Elex’).
Anyhow, my purchase was made through the following link, and I was asked to log in to WordPress after clicking ‘Proceed to Checkout’:
And that is where my password was rejected.
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hey there! Getting everything just right can be a bit of a struggle, but I’m glad you’re getting there.
Regarding this login issue: the login and password for our services will most likely be different from any logins associated with your own copy of WordPress. But given that you’re now logged into WordPress.com, are you able to see your upgrade here?

I am able to get into my new account and download the plugin. What I don’t understand is why the email address that I WANTED to use for the purchase is recognized by your site, BUT the password associated with WordPress (the one I use to log into my site) doesn’t work with it. It implies that I have an account with your website, but the only “wordpress” password I have doesn’t work. I guess I’m just confused. Do I have an account (with my desired email address) with WordPress.COM, or not? WordPress.ORG doesn’t recognize the email address. All I know is that when I started an account with my web host, they required me to set up a separate password for the WordPress login (both accounts are associated with the same email address).
I guess I just want to use one email address instead of two.

WooCommerce accounts use WordPress.com user accounts for account management. This same user account is what you’re using to post to your thread in the WordPress.com public support forums.
Note that WordPress.com accounts are different from the account you use to log into your site. WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.org sites are different entities. Visit the following link to learn the differences:
https://wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Therefore your WordPress.com/WooCommerce account would not use the same password as your website.
In your specific situation, you have (and will need) the following logins:
1. Your hosting account login.
2. Your WordPress website login.
3. Your WordPress.com/WooCommerce login. Each of these accounts theoretically could use the same email address, but they also can use different email addresses if you choose, but each of them will have a different password.
Since it sounds like you were able to download your product from WooCommerce, it sounds like you’re all set.

I feel that I am back at square one again.
I installed the plugin and everything seemed to work just fine. But when I went to try and print a shipping label, the plugin required me to add a credit card to my WordPress account.
This might not seem like a problem. I followed the link and put all the required information into the account. The account, though, was the NEW account I created to help acquire the plugin in the first place.
When I followed the link and tried to put the required information into the WordPress account that my website is set up with (through my web host), I was required to sign in and — using the email address that goes with my web host WordPress account — my password was rejected as stated in the first part of this post.
So it seems that I cannot print any shipping labels with the plugin because the plugin seems to require that both WordPress accounts be the SAME account (the WordPress account where I purchased the plugin and the WordPress account my web host uses for my website).
Is there a fix for this?
And for the life of me, I don’t know why the web host (Hostinger) doesn’t have this “USPS Shipping Method” plugin in their list when I search their plugins. They have one called “ELEX USPS Shipping Method” and it’s supposed to function identically, I believe, but the whole thing just seems kinda “scam-ish”. If you guys created the plugin, how does a third party go in and make it their own? Should I trust the ELEX version?
