Strange multiple hits from similar source
-
I recently set up StatCounter and last night I must have gotten 35-40 hits from a series of similar IP addresses- all of which were some variation on the following:
33.153.232.72.static.reverse.ltdomains.com (72.232.153.33)
Other similar IPs showed variations on “wordpress admin”.
I searched for “reverse ltdomains” on the internet and one of the pages that came up was a list of similar IPs named as malware. So I was wondering if this was some kind of hacking attempt.
Does anyone know what this was? Very strange…

We don’t have hacking issues here??? Have you been reading all the entries in this forum today about different people whose websites were hacked?
Anyway, I only got about 1 new spam comment in the last day. Interestingly, the WordPres stats didnt register this person/thing at all, while the StatCounter one did…

Those blogs weren’t hacked. That’s the “drama” of the kiddies from the Club Penguin who pass around their logins and passwords and then claimed that they were hacked. Try doing a forum search and you’ll see what I mean.

OK! Maybe you’re right… But still, 35-40 hits from one series of similar IPs seems strange doesnt it? Why would there be only 2-3 spam comments from all of that? Anyway I guess its not an urgent topic for the forum, since my site seems to be working OK…

Vivian IS right. Chewy is a notorious drama queen who pitches a fit in the forum quite regularly. It was the last day of school so no doubt s/he felt the absence of soap opera.
It’s likely that your site got spidered by a search engine. That would account for the similar IPs. If you haven’t noticed any ill effects, it’s probably just that.

That’s pretty funny that there are drama queens in the wordpress forums.
Search engine in an interesting explanation… Thanks for the tip!

These IP address you posted belongs to the WordPress.com server farms. I don’t think that’s to worry about.
