Strange Opera Login

Using Firefox, I log into WordPress and see my blogs with no problem. Normally, same thing with Opera. But now I’m getting a strange result: I am logged in — Opera is seeing my icon and my homepage — but it is not linking me with any of my blogs. Even stranger, this is happening only in Opera on a native Win10 system. When I log into Opera using Win10 in a VMware virtual machine on the same computer, there’s no problem. Cookies etc. are not an issue: this is a fresh Opera installation on a system that has never had Opera installed before.

  • Hi there,

I am logged in — Opera is seeing my icon and my homepage — but it is not linking me with any of my blogs

Is this something you are able to take a screenshot of? I’m not sure I understood the issue but perhaps a picture will help. To share a screenshot with us, you can upload it to the Media Library on your site, and then copy the image URL. You can see a video of how to do this here: https://d.pr/v/Fcnerp

Once you have the image URL just paste it into your reply and we will be able to see your screenshot, thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the Media option shown in the left pane of the video is not available.

I think the problem was that I had turned off all cookies in Opera’s Settings. At the moment, setting that back to allow cookies seems to have resolved the issue.

  • Yes that would likely be the issue here. WordPress.com stores a “login cookie” that is used to authenticate your actions (as well as to keep you logged in between sessions) on the site, so blocking WordPress.com cookies will cause unusual issues like this.

    Hope this helps!
