Strange referrer link

Although my blog is still pretty new and I’m getting almost no hits, I like to check the dashboard. I was looking at it tonight and there is a referrer link from a few days ago. This link goes back to a sitemeter statistics page for a website I designed for a client months ago. I haven’t visited that website or sitemeter in months. I blog anonymously, so there’s no connection.

Can anyone explain how in the world this could be? If someone maybe does an Internet search while on their sitemeter page, then clicks on a link to my blog from there, would that cause this to happen – then when I click the sitemeter link, I am automatically taken to whatever sitemeter account I’m logged into?

That doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it is kinda freaking me out that a sitemeter page would come up for a site I know, but the owners of the site would not know about my blog.

Can we get a link to your WordPress.com blog? And maybe a link to that site you’re talking about? Maybe they’ve put you in their sidebar or something.

Thanks for your reply. My blog is: http://chicfinancials.wordpress.com/. The other site is a basic website I created for someone’s business that is not a blog and is completely unrelated to my blog content. I haven’t even visited that site in months. There is definitely no link to or from that site & my blog. I blog anonymously, so I definitely would not have linked to any other site.
