Strange Smart Quote

    I think the smart quote in WordPress Markdown works well overall, and it even works for numbers like ’60, which Word gets it right but PowerPoint gets it wrong. However, I encountered something strange: ’empty’ is changed to ’empty’ instead of ‘empty’. I really do not understand why.

    Is it related to the fact that ’em should become ’em?

    BTW, unless I understand the problem wrongly, I do not need help for my site, as the issue can be worked around easily. What I like to see is some bug fix in the WordPress Markdown engine to make the smart punctuation marks right.
